KNOCKING, Sermon, 25th Feb 2010
Several times my friends asked me, is it true that God hears our prayer? As we hear in the gospel today. Ask and you shall be given. Knock and the door will be opened to you. Many people began to doubt the word.
They become doubts because they feel was knocking, but the door was not opened, they're looking for, and they do not get. So they began to doubt, lest Jesus did not keep their promises.
I tried to understand this by thinking simple. I imagine the House of God was so great, so when I knock on, surely the host will not immediately able to open the door. May He must turn around, could be he was busy and had to clean his hands before opening the door.
Well, sometimes there are guests who are impatient. After he knocked quietly to wait for the door was opened, but quickly passed and forgotten if he had just knocked on the door.
So the proper attitude of prayer, when knocking on the door of the House of God, we also have to patiently wait for the door opened. Patience and clarity of the heart to wait and see the door opening was rarely possess. Many times we felt the time pursued. We like not have much time to listen the God's answers.
Another thing, we might have given the answer, the door is opened, only the eyes of our hearts are not caught does not see it. So really needed had a clear eye to see.
Seeing it all, it takes only one. We need taking the time to quiet and calm. To listen the voice of God and see the provision of what we ask. As people converse, there are times when we want to listen to our speaker, if not then what happens is a fight. So let's make time in our lives to be silent, sit quietly, and open heart focused on God, to be able to catch his presence, and not busy grumbling because we do not feel a request filled.
God bless us.
